Family Photography Rooted in Storytelling
As a father of two young daughters, I know how quickly families change. The expressions, relationships, and little moments that feel ordinary today often become the photographs we value most years from now.
Based in Thousand Oaks, California, I specialize in fine art family photography with a documentary influence, photographing families throughout Conejo Valley, Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village, Agoura Hills, Ventura County, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, and across Southern California.
My approach is relaxed and observational. Rather than forcing every moment into a pose, I give families room to be themselves—while still bringing the composition, light, and attention to detail of carefully crafted portraiture.
More Than 20 Years of Visual Storytelling
Before becoming a family photographer, I spent more than two decades working as a Director of Photography in film and television.
That career taught me far more than how to create beautiful images. Documentary filmmaking, in particular, taught me how to observe—to anticipate a moment, recognize an expression, and tell a story without constantly directing what happens in front of the camera.
Today, that experience shapes the way I photograph families.
I combine the craft of fine art portraiture with the honesty of documentary photography, creating photographs that are beautiful without feeling manufactured: genuine expressions, real connections, and images that feel unmistakably like your family.
The best family photographs aren't directed. They're discovered.
